The year of 2024 is fast upon us and instead of making the same ol’ New Year resolutions that we fully immerse ourselves in, only to burn-out in 4-8 weeks time, let’s consider a new approach. Too often, we vow to completely overhaul our current diet and exercise routines or go to great extremes in one or both of these categories, which is a recipe for failure (see previous years resolutions and success rates)!
Health and wellness is a long-game. It’s about daily choices that either contribute to our wellness or our illness. Consider the sustainability of any new diet and/or exercise program you are entertaining. Is it something you can easily and willingly incorporate into your daily routine long-term? Ask yourself, “Is this sustainable” with any new lifestyle regimens you’re choosing.
Some ‘Natalie’s Nuggets‘ to help propel your New Year’s Goals:
-Start with small changes that aren’t overwhelming (exercise an extra 10-15min or one additional day per week).
-Reduce those ‘junk carbs’ and keep the ones you truly love on the plate (or keep a very small portion of these just for the taste).
-Each week, add something new that is manageable to add into your routine (Ex: cut off eating by 7:00 or 8:00pm)
-Before long, you have stacked some seriously healthy habits and they have just become your ‘new normal.’
