Watching our kids play sports and finding what they love and what they’re good at brings me such joy! It also illustrates, in real time, the incredible life lessons that are built around every facet of dedicating yourself to something and to a team/group/collective.
Sports are so much more than just a game on a field, court, track or course. They are a tool for teaching us (young and old) discipline, resilience, accountability, teamwork, time management and they build confidence, which translates into all aspects of life.
George Bernard Shaw famously said, “We don’t stop playing because we get old. We get old because we stop playing.”
My encouragement to you is to find something you enjoy and fully commit yourself to it, even if you only have a sliver of time to dedicate to it. It can be a harbor for stress relief or even bring joy to others and the world needs more of what you have to offer!
